Um, I'm still waiting for the pin...and while I was waiting I whipped up an:
Ode to Alicia's birthday! Here are some of the things that happened in history on the day you were born.
I mention this one because you're a good Catholic girl: 1170: Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury, is assassinated inside Canterbury Cathedral by followers of King Henry II; he subsequently becomes a saint and martyr in the Anglican Church and the Roman Catholic Church.
Because - hey, it's publishing, right? 1782 - the 1st nautical almanac in US published by Samuel Stearns, Boston
Because it was kind of big news: 1845- Texas admitted as 28th state
Because I thought it was cool! 1852 - Emma Snodgrass arrested in Boston for wearing pants
Because you're a fan: 1958 - Balt Colts beat NY Giants 23-17 in NFL championship game
Because it's the Tribbles, ya know? 1967 - Star Trek's "Trouble With Tribbles" 1st airs
Again, because you're a fan and they do some awesome things on your birthday. Coincidence? Maybe... 1968 - Balt Colts beat Cleveland Browns 34-0 in NFL championship game
This last? Because I thought it was interesting that he got a stamp after his death - faster than most of our former presidents. Humm. 1982 - Bob Marley postage stamp issued in Jamaica
Wishing you many more! Murphy
(Hey, T? Quit fooling around - we need that pin! And for any of you wondering about the reference to Balt Colts? First Game Played: September 27, 1953 - Last Game Played December 18, 1983 - Moved to Indianapolis in 1984)
Wes says:This thread kinda reminds me of Adam's first words to Eve. "Stand back. I don't know how big this thing's gonna get."
Humm. Wes's comment does makes me wonder. I do think in the garden there was some swelling going on - and I’m certain a head was involved, but which one could was it? My guess? It’s the one that got caught between the olive branches when Adam ducked through the thicket and his huge cranium got snagged on a thorn which left a gash above his ear. That would explain why women - to this day, still stand back in amazement at how inflated a guy’s ego can become when he feels the need to allude to a certain part of the male anatomy...Well, either that, or Theresa’s caption is an indication of something other than Alicia’s age...like what that guy is packing behind the balloon. 25 and holding! Yikes! Maybe he needs some help. My kingdom for a PIN - I say! :D
Murphy Word verification: WELIZE sounds like Elmer Fudd's eureka moment!
Let's put the I'm with Murphy stamp here. I'd like to add a question? Who wants to form the posse to hang the person who was supposed to provide the pin? They probably stole the pin and are planning on using it later to pop someone's ego. :P
And, um, if Theresa's 25 isn't referring to Alicia's age, I may be standing back with Dave shielding my eyes(but peeking) LOL
@em Not BEHIND Dave, just backing offm where I can see but not get en eye out.
I'll leave it to Alicia to enjoy her present :)
However, you have a point. If I could stand BEHIND Murphy than I can let the head cougar do the work! I'll just drive the posse. Where is that dang pin!

Our Promise to Authors
Every day we work with writers to shape their manuscripts for publication. We also evaluate submissions, read our friends’ pages, give second opinions to other editors -- in short, we confront a whole lot of manuscript pages for a whole lot of reasons. But here’s what we don’t do. We don’t -- and we never will -- pull examples directly from any of these manuscripts. The editor-author relationship depends on mutual trust and respect, and we won’t ever compromise that. We might get ideas for blog posts in the course of our interaction with writers and manuscripts, but all examples are ours, with the occasional exception of literary sources.

Murphy, that was great as always :) My husband and I did a trivia question last night and the answer was Thomas Beckett. I knew it right away:P
