I worked for a newspaper as a copy editor for about two years. For Halloween one year, the Features page was going to run a story about how full-size candy bars were better than fun-size. The headline choices were:
BIGGER IS BETTER, SIZE MATTERS, and TREAT 'EM RIGHT.
.... yeah.
The features editor couldn't understand why we thought the headlines were ill advised (meanwhile the entire copy desk was giggling uncontrollably).
If you have an editing question you'd like us to address, feel free to send it to rasley at gmail dot com. We like reader questions because they save us from having to think up post topics on our own. ;)

Our Promise to Authors
Every day we work with writers to shape their manuscripts for publication. We also evaluate submissions, read our friends’ pages, give second opinions to other editors -- in short, we confront a whole lot of manuscript pages for a whole lot of reasons. But here’s what we don’t do. We don’t -- and we never will -- pull examples directly from any of these manuscripts. The editor-author relationship depends on mutual trust and respect, and we won’t ever compromise that. We might get ideas for blog posts in the course of our interaction with writers and manuscripts, but all examples are ours, with the occasional exception of literary sources.

I LOL'ed...out loud!

Okay, somebody didn't have their morning coffee. Even without the caffiene boost I can't believe they missed that.
So I gotta ask...does that mean it's a turn-off when his package is too big, or when it's too small?
just sayin'.
It's not the size of the package, it's what it takes to support it!
Laura, I think when politician's are involved the answer to your question is 'yes'. ;-)
AACK! I didn't really put that apostrophe in there, did I?
*giggle* That made me smile,thanks.
I'm with Laura on this one! I now realize how immature I am because I've been chuckling way too long!
The real benefit of living in a free country: Being allowed to laugh at our politicians. :)
