Oooh... Shiny!

I'm so easily distracted. Last night, as I was reading through the blog posts and comments for the last two weeks, almost everything I read made me go, "Ooh, I want to write about that!" You people make my magpie gene go into overdrive. :)

There are two topics that have come up in the threads, though, that I would like to move to the front page. I'd love to know what all the rest of you think about this. You guys always give me a lot to ponder.

Question one.
What is the difference between an antihero and a dark and dangerous hero? As a reader, do you distinguish between these two character types?

Question two.
If print erotic romance books had less embarrassing covers, what effect would that have on the e-book market for erotic romances? In other words, people say they like to buy these stories in digital format because they don't have to worry about being embarrassed by carrying the book around in a bookstore. If we eliminate that embarrassment, what effect does it have on e-books?

Theresa - I don't think it will have an effect.

The new readers love their gadgets. As 'George Jetson' as that sounds, it's the truth. They may be YA readers now, but will eventually be reading adult material as they come of age.

That is not to say that paper books will become extinct, not at all. But the wave is gathering momentum.

Even though everyone and their wizard dog has the Harry Potter books, you know once they are released in ebook form, J.K. Rowling will be able to purchase a small island of her own from the sales.

I imagine the evolution of the way people read will be a lot like movies as technology evolves.
We went from video tapes to DVDs and now we are looking at HD/BluRay - and it won't stop there.

I mean, who knew that the younger generation would be texting instead of making phone calls?

Gadgets, baby.

I'd say yes, Eastwood's Unforgiven character was an anti-hero, but I'm not sure about Snake in the Escape From films. If he's redeemed in the end (I can't remember), I'd say he's a hero.

But don't ask me why. I just think anti-heroes are NOT redeemed in the end. I think they can triumph (as Michael sort of does in GFII) but without redemption.

Interesting. Triumph without redemption. (thinking, thinking)
