I say it is about time. When I first used the word back in the mid-90s, AP had not made a decision on it yet. My professor told me he didn't have a preference but he did want me to pick one and stick to it. I picked the version "email" and have not varied from it since.

LOL! Even some of the departments at the paper where I work can't decide whether the email hyphen stays.
About stinkin' time. I've used email since the mid '80s, and I've never hyphenated it.

Oh, yes, website. "Web site" always seems so fusty! And "e-book". Ebook!
Seems an obvious statement but must be said: 'email' is so much easier to type. =)
