I'm heading up to the Slam Jam shortly. If any of you are attending, be sure to say hello! The rest of you, please send me lots of "good pitch" vibes. I'd love to pick up a new writer or two over the weekend!
ETA: Also, before I forget, I've donated an evaluation of a full manuscript to the Brenda Novak auction. Go bid! If not on that, then on something else. It's for an excellent cause!

Lots of good vibes are on their way, Theresa. Have fun!
I wish I could hit all the conferences! Yes, I will be at RWA. :)
Best of luck to you!
G.
You're going to have much fun! I do have a question: what is your experience with the AA romance market (regarding segregation, separate imprints, etc)? Is a change necessary at the top (acquiring agents and editors) or is the industry waiting for readers to "integrate"?
I'm having a ball so far. This is a great conference with a fun, warm vibe.
La Belle, I'm not sure I'm the best person to speak on that subject, but I can tell you that our door is open. If the story is good and fits our line, we publish it, whether it's contemporary comedy or multicultural/ interracial or aliens with big guns. A good story is a good story. We released a story today with Hispanic characters. We have an AA heroine in one of the summer novellas. We've got Asian characters on deck, too.
What do all of these have in common? Not the racial or cultural components, but the quality of the storytelling. If you build the world and make it accessible, the readers will enter it.
I'm not sure what the best next move is for the industry as a whole. What would you like to see happen?
