Article about the evils of vagueness in sentences

This is what I deal with a  lot teaching college students. Whatever.

I think it's a product of the Self-Esteem movement. "If it comes out of you, it's good because you're good." That effectively relieves us all of the obligation to be articulate. Or to improve in any way.

Because we can say the dumbest things, and, like, people will go, like, you know, they'll sort of go, "That's good." /snark

Bummer, Dude.

Even though I taught in a major college of business I graded my students in part on their writing. Many were upset saying "This is not an English class", but I told them one of the keys to success in business was communicating clearly.

I don't know where it comes from - we're not getting it to the same degree in Britain, but I found myself reaching for it in order to obfuscate the real issue the other day: I met this cool guy, and he's, like, twenty, and I'm, like, not.
