This is funny. My favorite was #16:
Writers communicate in a bunch of different ways. But mostly writing. Hope you don’t like talking on the phone — that shit is rough.
I'm allergic to the phone. You with me on that one?

Ha ha, yes! And I liked #6, and #10!
Very funny!
My favorite was #18: Writers are surrounded by interesting people. Every last one of whom is imaginary.
Oh, so absolutely true! LOL!
Oh, hell yes to the phone, sister. I LOATHE the thing.
Ugh, I hate the phone! The only thing that has kept me from chucking my stupid annoying cell phone out the window is the fact I drive home at 3 am alone almost every night and I'm afraid I'll need it in an emergency. Glad to know I'm not the only one who hates the phone.
Why do you suppose we hate the phone so much? It's like an epidemic with writers. I can email and chat online all day, but that phone...bleurgh.
T
I'm phone phobic too!
Oh man, I am so with you! I was just thinking today that I wish other people in my family would treat the phone the same way I do: as a way to quickly share information or make plans and then hang the damn thing up. There's probably no hope for my 88-year-old great-uncle, but maybe I can explain to my mother and sister that phones are toxic to writers if calls last more than two minutes...
I also hate that infamous phone. Text ftw!
I especially enjoyed 6,9,18, and their commentary on 12.
"Demonstrative" about my affections is the LAST word I would use. At least, I'm not INTENTIONALLY demonstrative (but there have been a lot of people asking me if I'm dating a certain person...which I'm not but wouldn't say no to.)
My day job puts me on the phones all day. I have a cell phone that's essentially a camera and a text machine. I HATE talking on the phone - moreso because I'm required to do it to pay my bills and feed my writing habit.
And I liked #2 on the list. That's very, very true. You do NOT want a writer to write about you. We tend to emphasize the wrong things when we write about real people.
#6 had both me and the husband laughing.
I always used to think my phone hatred was left over from assorted phone-intensive day jobs, but then the topic came up in another writers' forum, and I found out I wasn't alone. It really does seem common among writers.
Caller ID is just about the best thing that ever happened to phones. I used to let the phone ring without picking it up, and then I'd waste time anyway, with all the "what if" scenarios. Now, I can see it's a junk call and ignore it, guilt-free.
