Winners!

We've heard from both winners, so it's official now. Congratulations (commiserations? lol) to Dave Shaw and Jill Stone! We look forward to seeing your pages and working with you!

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest. We have a long list of nominated posts which we're pondering now. Really long. We take that as a good sign!

Dave and Jill,

Congratulations! If you decide to wimp out though (yeah, I know, never gonna happen...), keep me in mind for your surrogate. :)

Thanks. I'm still in shock. And I've got "I'm an Edit Torrent wiener" playing in my head. Oy! (If you're not old enough to remember the Oscar Mayer Wiener song, count your blessings.)

Dave,

You are an evil, evil man. Now I'm going to have that stuck in my head too, but I'm not even a winner!

Congrats to Jill and Dave! I'm sooooo envious!

Alicia and Theresa, I have an unrelated question. Could you tell us about subtext: what it really is, and how to use it?

Thanks!

Ooh, great topic, Deb. Alicia, remember that great conversation we had about text and subtext and Atonement when it first came out?

Jami,

Sorry. I ended up listening to the Divinyls over and over again to get rid of it. Of course, I had to watch the videos, too. Now my tongue's all dry... >;-)

Deb, here's an article I wrote about how to do subtext. Start looking for it in books and films-- it's fun. :)

Alicia, that is a great article!

I never knew I need subtext in the books I read, but that is what makes a great book for me, figuring out the subtext. I'm enlightened - again. Thank you :)

Alicia,

The first time I read that article, I wasn't ready for it, and I couldn't see how to apply it. This time it makes perfect sense (unless I'm fooling myself - grin). Thanks for the reminder!
