If you want to submit to Red Sage, just follow the submissions guidelines on the Red Sage site and put one of our names on the submission. Please don't submit via the blog.

We blog about conferences and other functions we attend. At the beginning of the month, I blogged about Love Is Murder, a 3-day mystery conference that invited me to attend this year. And I just blogged last week about a sex scene panel I did for a writers group. Alicia probably travels more than I do, but we both attend many conferences and other functions.

TheresaEdittorrenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14295505709568570553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-66265115065403119532008-02-20T22:12:00.000-06:002008-02-20T22:12:00.000-06:00I just checked y'all's Blogger profile and saw tha...I just checked y'all's Blogger profile and saw that you are both acquisitions editors, but you don't say where you work or where you might be appearing at conferences so that we might query you. Are either of you attending any conferences in the foreseeable future? Do you already get too many queries (and thus don't really want them proceeding from this weblog)? Just wondering.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02608923205564195020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-88656912890232229412008-02-20T21:32:00.000-06:002008-02-20T21:32:00.000-06:00A thank you note is fine, Dara, as long as it's re...A thank you note is fine, Dara, as long as it's really a thank you note! You know, I can't take the time I'd like with every promising new writer. I wish I could. I really do.

But I can take a little time to write this blog, and maybe that will help. I see it as a time-effective way to communicate with a lot of people at once.

Keep learning. Keep trying. Keep finding new ways to look at your pages. It is a tough game, but rejections don't matter. The only answer that matters is the one that says, YES!

TheresaEdittorrenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14295505709568570553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-67169196734902055082008-02-20T19:03:00.000-06:002008-02-20T19:03:00.000-06:00From a hopeful writer's perspective, the hardest t...From a hopeful writer's perspective, the hardest thing of all is 'not knowing'. I understand the agent/editor perspective, of course I do. I can't even imagine the amount of reading you do. But as a writer, I also understand why folk get so frustrated.

It is that not knowing. Obviously if you have so many rejections on one project then it isn't working. But you don't know 'why' it isn't working.

Join a critique group. Right. They all love it. Send it out. More rejections. So you are left scratching your head and wailing why!

Because, you don't know if you are nowhere near, halfway near, or just so close it was a hard decision.

That, I think, is our real frustration.

We still move on, write something else, but if we keep making the same mistakes - how will we ever know?

The time the agent/editor says, yes.

But it's a heck of a journey.makoiyihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01593724562129833517noreply@blogger.com
