(It probably makes sense for other genres too ;).) I think this will really help me with my current novel WIP, especially since the heroine is not terribly sympathetic to start out... and I'm eventually going to have to make the main villain more sympathetic as well.Kaitlyn R. It's good to stay focused on what moves the plot forward.Perrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08485133856416996635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-49227599587976411462010-09-07T13:45:28.434-05:002010-09-07T13:45:28.434-05:00Thank you for saying, "start by deciding whic...Thank you for saying, "start by deciding which trait we want to have highlighted in the scene action." It seems so flippin obvious but I really needed that simple sentence! It has brought me back down from that annoying realm of too many ideas at once. whew!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14182443845308273600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-40784601467366883702010-09-07T13:05:28.109-05:002010-09-07T13:05:28.109-05:00Yes, Green Knight, that's basically character-...Yes, Green Knight, that's basically character-driven storytelling, and I can blog about it. We're all so steeped in plot-driven techniques that we don't always know how to go about it the other way. It's useful to learn it even if we default to plot.

TheresaEdittorrenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14295505709568570553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-52595849455267296482010-09-07T11:47:18.295-05:002010-09-07T11:47:18.295-05:00Would you consider another post on *finding* scene...Would you consider another post on *finding* scenes that illustrate those traits? I have no problems finding and highlighting the protag's traits when I know what's happening - but I am finding the opposite much more difficult, and have a tendency to tell rather than show them, so any hints and tricks would be much appreciated.green_knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16499896006012152260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6824896765631412903.post-58209999745037518592010-09-06T20:33:09.556-05:002010-09-06T20:33:09.556-05:00Thanks. It's good to remember that the characters can have moments of weaknesses or non-heroicness before being their heroic selves.
